CSAS Auction 2006 The year 2006 marks the 10th anniversary of the Canine Seizure Assist Society of North Carolina, Inc. On May 16, 2006, we held a fundraising silent and live auction at the Charles Mack Citizens Center in Mooresville, NC. This was not only the most profitable fundraising event CSAS has had, but it was also the most fun! The success of this auction was due to the involvement of the NASCAR community through donations of autographed NASCAR collectibles and memorabilia. Kerry Earnhardt appeared at the auction to sign autographs and Doug Richert, car #16 crew chief, was our emcee. Doug did a fantastic job. Kerry's appearance drew people from as far away as Kentucky and Ohio. Kerry and Doug, I don't know how I can thank you enough for everything you, Rene, and Robin did for CSAS. Items were donated by Kerry Earnhardt, Greg Biffle, Joe Gibbs Racing, Rousch Racing, Mark Martin, Joe Nemechek, Jimmie Johnson, Sam Bass, the Carolina Panthers, local businesses, FMX radio, Designs by Ali, many friends of CSAS......the list goes on and on. David DeQuick, DVM, has been with CSAS through its entire 10-year history. A plaque was presented to David recognizing his dedicated service to CSAS. Also in attendance were three of our clients and their seizure-assist dogs, Abby, Cyrano, and Shelby. Unfortunately, one of our clients had a seizure; but, fortunately, her dog alerted before the seizure and all three dogs thought they had to go to work. These dogs, apparently, do not realize that others have the "special" gift to help. Again, I can't thank Kerry, Doug, and the entire NASCAR community, the businesses in Mooresville, the friends of CSAS and everyone in attendance enough for making this such a fantastic evening.
